I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Memphis College of Art. Memphis has always been a cultural oasis for visual artists, musicians, thespians and performers, with a great following and appreciation for the arts. While I now live in Florida, I am proud to have established my roots in the great city of Memphis.
Following graduation, my work drew the attention of several galleries and I was represented by Albers Fine Arts Gallery and Perry Nicole Fine Art for many years. I've shown in many invitational and traveling shows throughout the southeast and am very appreciative of the patrons that now have my paintings hanging in their homes or offices.
My work is inspired by a mix of artists - from Matisse and Gaugin to Arthur Dove, Georgia O'Keeffe, Marsden Hartley and the great American painter Walter Inglis Anderson. I am intrigued by the crossing of planes and the shapes and colors that those intersections create. I am drawn to bold colors that entice emotion, as well as the strong, yet fragile statement that a line makes. I feel warmth and safety from nature which is often reflected by the mix of house and tree in my paintings. This was the inspiration for the name of my company and for the logo that represents it.
The paintings below represent work completed throughout my career. Many span back to my gallery representation with Albers and Perry Nicole, as well as work inspired by Walter Anderson and Horn Island. All painting are for sale. The medium is acrylic and pastel on paper. Sizes are image sizes and are unframed. Prices do not include shipping costs.
